Dice potatoes and cook for 5 minutes in salted water, then add macaroni and cook everything al dente.
Meanwhile grate the alp cheese and preheat the oven to 220°.
Finely chop the onion and fry in butter together with the bacon cubes.
Heat the whole cream and add ¾ of the grated alp cheese, then season with nutmeg and pepper.
Mix the drained macaroni and potatoes together with the cream-alp cheese mixture and pour into an ovenproof dish. Spread the onions, bacon cubes and the rest of the alp cheese over the Älpler macaroni.
Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes until a golden-brown crust appears.
Goes well with apple sauce or salad.
