Alp cheese scones

Ingredients for 6 – 8 Scones

  • 375 g flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Some Cayenne pepper
  • 60 g cold butter
  • 150 g alp cheese, grated
  • Approx. 250 ml cold milk

Preheat the oven to 220° C.

Mix flour, baking powder, salt and Cayenne pepper in a large bowl.

Cut the butter into small pieces and mix with the flour. Rub between your fingers until crumbly. Add the grated alp cheese and milk, keeping a little of each back. Mix with a wooden ladle into a dough. Do not knead.

Roll dough out on some flour to a thickness of approx. 2 cm. Cut out rounds of approx. 8 cm in diameter.

Lay the scones on a baking tray lined with baking paper, brush with some milk and sprinkle with the remaining alp cheese.

Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown.

Enjoy the alp cheese scones while they are still lukewarm with some butter. They also go perfectly with a soup or salad.
